The headline for Mercedes-Benz at the Geneva Motor Show 2016 is the release of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet. This is the first time Mercedes have offered a convertible version of the C-Class. Its release, just in time for summer 2016 is expected to make it an extremely popular addition to the range! We took a closer look at the car on display.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was designed from the beginning to be a Cabriolet. The bodyshell at the front end and on the floor were designed to cope with the additional stress of having the roof removed. The Cabriolet retains the Coupe’s wings, bonnet and boot lid, all three are constructed from aluminium alloy.

Mercedes-Benz opted for a classic fabric soft top for the Cabriolet. The system is fully automatic and able to operate at speeds of up to 50 km/h. It takes 20 seconds to fully open or close and is available in dark brown, dark blue, dark red or black. Customers will be able to choose from an Aircap automatic draught stop system or an Airscarf neck level heating system for extra comfort.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet is also available with a variety of different engines. These include two inline, 4 cylinder diesel versions, the C 220 d 4MATIC with 170 hp and the C 250d with 204 hp. A further five petrol options include the C 180 with 156 hp, the C 200 4MATIC with 184 hp, the C 250 with 211 hp, the C 300 with 245 hp and the C400 4MATIC with a 333 hp V6. The range is topped by a C 43 4MATIC, more on that later.
