Its a given that the AMG variant of the new E-Class will follow once the official release is out of the way. Mercedes-AMG engineers are already testing a brand new 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 63 to succeed the outgoing model. It will of course receive the new nomenclature together with Affalterbach’s latest technology!

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 63 was spotted testing recently in northern Sweden. It will make use of the new 4.0 litre biturbo V8 currently fitted to the Mercedes-AMG GT S and Mercedes-AMG C63 S. In those cars, the V8 packs a 503 hp punch, expect in excess of this figure for the E 63, Possibly somewhere around 550 hp for a standard model and an ‘S’ version with slightly more. It should get a dry sump lubrication system.

Mercedes-AMG are also expected to offer a 4Matic All-Wheel-Drive system, some have even suggested that Mercedes-AMG could do away with the Rear-Wheel-Drive models altogether. Expect the 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 63 to share the same rear axle as the C 63. The C 63 featured an AMG-specific rear axle with a multi-link design, body-fixed toe control arms on solid pillow-ball mounts and a track 46mm broader than the standard model.

Both saloon and estate versions should be available with AWD also on offer to right hand drive markets for the very first time. One of the biggest disappointments of the previous generation was the lack of a Coupe variant, its possible that this latest generation could get a Mercedes-AMG E 63 Coupe.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E 63 is expected to debut later this year at the Paris Motor Show 2016 as a 2017 model.
