New spy shots share a closer look at the upcoming DB9 successor. The Aston Martin DB11 is due to be unveiled later this year and is the first production Aston Martin that is made under technical partnership with Mercedes-AMG. The 2017 Aston Martin DB11 is expected to launch at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.

Under the bonnet you can expect the find a brand new 5.2 liter V12 twin-turbo powerplant developed by Aston Martin in house. Insiders confirmed to GTspirit that the new DB11 will use a further evolution of Aston Martin’s own VH aluminium architecture. Electronical components are also sourced from AMG which should be a true blessing for Aston Martin which latest models really suffered from the lack of a strong technology partner.

Our sources also reveal that a lot of effort is made to warrant two of Aston Martin’s key selling points: the looks and the sound. The use of lightweight materials such as composites should make the vehicle lighter and also emphasize its elegant and sporty looks. The V12 engine will be paired with a specific Aston Martin exhaust setup to gain a typical Aston Martin sound.
