Ex-Top Gear Crew Kicks off Filming with Hypercar-Trio Comparison

Filming has officially began for the new Amazon Prime car show that will star ex-Top Gear members Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. The trio revealed a series of photos on their social media channels describing it as their first day at work.

The presence of the three hypercars – Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder – further indicates a possible comparison test, one which is yet to be done. Chris Harris later tweeted a photo of the three cars in action at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal where the filming was taking place.

Earlier in the year it was revealed that Amazon Prime paid $250 million for a three year show starring Clarkson, Hammond and May. That said, Clarkson alone will be earning an estimated $15 million per year from the show. Registered trademarks from a law firm close to Clarkson suggest that the new show could be called ‘Gear Knobs’.

The show is expected to air its first episode in late 2016.
