Bentley Hints at Potent Bentayga Speed

An even higher performance variant of the Bentley Bentayga is looking increasingly likely to launch following hints from the British marque.

While speaking with Autocar at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015, Bentley engineering boss Rolf Frech hinted that more variants of the car are possible with the current Bentayga unable to crack the 320 km/h mark due to its tyres.

“But that is not to say there will not be other variants in the future,” Frech said. When quizzed about whether that meant a Bentayga Speed was on the cards, the engineering boss replied “Never say never”.

Prior to the launch of the Bentley Bentayga at Frankfurt, spy shots emerged reportedly showing a Bentayga Speed. It included a new splitter at the front end as well as extended side skirts, a large rear spoiler and a set of larger brake discs and calipers.

The standard Bentayga features a brand new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine from the Volkswagen Group. It delivers 600 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque helping it to hit 96 km/h in 4.1 seconds as well as a 301 km/h top speed. If a Bentayga Speed is indeed offered, it could conceivably pump out around 700 hp.
