It has been confirmed that deposits for the first year of Bentley Bentayga production have been filled. That means any new Bentayga customers won’t receive their cars until 2017 or after.
The Bentayga’s popularity comes despite the fact that it is the world’s most expensive SUV starting at over $229,000 in the United States. In return however, Bentayga owners will also receive arguably the world’s most luxurious SUV as well as the fastest ever produced.
So far, only the range-topping model has been introduced. It utilises the Volkswagen Group’s brand new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine delivering 600 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. This makes for a sprint to 96 km/h in just 4 seconds as well as a top speed of 301 km/h.
Inside, the Bentley Bentayga is exceptionally luxurious, even more so than other existing Bentley models. It features a full-length panoramic sunroof as well as a large 8-inch infotainment system with a touchscreen and 60GB harddrive. Elsewhere is a 10.2-inch removable Bentley tablet running on Android and complete with 4G and WiFi for the rear passengers. There are three different audio systems available with one unit from Naim a 1950 Watt system complete with 18 speakers.
Other engines expected to be offered will include a twin-turbo petrol 4.0-litre V8, a 4.2-litre V8 diesel from the 2015 Audi Q7 as well as a plug-in hybrid variant.
