The 2016 Bentley Bentayga has officially been priced from $229,100 in the United States making it the world’s most expensive production SUV.

Its U.S. pricing puts it ahead of the Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG ($218,000) as well as the $200,000 needed for the Range Rover SVAutobiography. Of course, the Bentayga’s starting price only scratches the surface for how expensive some could be once options and customisations are selected. While the available options aren’t yet known, it’s inevitably that highly-configured Bentayga’s will cost over $300,000.

Powering the Bentley Bentayga is the Volkswagen Group’s brand new twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine delivering 600 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. This makes for a sprint to 96 km/h in just 4 seconds as well as a top speed of 301 km/h, making it quite comfortably the world’s fastest SUV.

Inside, the Bentley Bentayga is exceptionally luxurious, even more so than other existing Bentley models. It features a full-length panoramic sunroof as well as a large 8-inch infotainment system with a touchscreen and 60GB harddrive. Elsewhere is a 10.2-inch removable Bentley tablet running on Android and complete with 4G and WiFi for the rear passengers. There are three different audio systems available with one unit from Naim a 1950 Watt system complete with 18 speakers.

Don’t expect the Bentayga to be the most expensive SUV for long however. Rolls-Royce is currently developing a luxurious SUV which will likely cost even more.
