Marriott International has announced that it will open a second Edition hotel in the United Arab Emirates in 2018. The property, which will be located in Dubai, will follow the company’s first Edition hotel in the country that will be launched in 2016 in Abu Dhabi.
The Dubai one will have Dubai Properties as one of the partners but will be managed by Mariott. It will have 258 rooms and occupy a strategic beach front location on Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), providing easy access to entertainment, shopping and dining outlets on the 1.7 km-long promenade – The Walk at JBR, also developed by Dubai Properties.
The new hotel will have several dining outlets of its own and have facilities for business, meetings and other events. There will be a spa and a beach club too.

Edition Hotels is the brainchild of entrepreneur Ian Schrager who conceived it in a partnership with Marriott International. It combines the personal, intimate, individualised and unique lodging experience that Schrager’s hotels are known for, with the global reach, operational expertise and scale of the Marriott. Currently, there are four Edition hotels: one each in New York, Miami, London and Istandbul. Meanwhile, apart from UAE, openings are planned in Thailand (Bangkok), China (Sanya) and Indonesia (Bali).
Regarding the Dubai hotel, Schrager stated “I am thrilled to continue the global expansion of the new Edition lifestyle brand with this exciting project in Dubai. Following the opening of our Abu Dhabi hotel, the Edition brand is on track to have a robust presence in the Emirates.”
