According to new reports, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV has lapped the Nurburgring Nordschleife in an impressive 7 minutes and 43 seconds.

If that time is accurate then it would put the Giulia QV nine seconds ahead of the BMW M4 which has already proven itself to be faster than the Mercedes-AMG C63 S despite its massive horsepower deficit. Whereas the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine of the M4 delivers 425 hp, the Ferrari-derived 2.9-litre TT six-cylinder of the Giulia QV pumps out 503 hp, exactly the same as the C63 S.

While the Italian firm has yet to fully detail the Giulia QV including its braking and suspension systems, it certainly seems feasible it could be faster than the M4 given its power advantage. In recent times, a number of Giulia QV prototypes have been spied at the Nurburgring so it seems apparent that the automaker is quite keen to make an impression at the famed circuit.

If the 7:43 lap time proves to be accurate, we expect an announcement from Alfa Romeo very soon.
