On the back of launching official images and details about the M Performance Parts and Accessories range for the new BMW X5 range, the German marque has dropped a video showing many of the key optional upgrades available.

Changes include a black BMW kidney grille, carbon fibre front splitter, carbon fibre wing mirror caps, a new rear diffuser as well as black decorative side skirts. For the interior, the BMW M Performance Parts for the BMW X5 include a new sports steering wheel, carbon fibre gear shifter, steel pedals and new floor mats.

From a performance standpoint, the new kit includes a new brake system with calipers finished in blue and matched with 21-inch alloy wheels in a Bi-Colour finish. For the regular BMW X5, power is increased by 20 hp to 326 hp while torque has been raised by an impressive 50 Nm to 450 Nm.

The M Performance Parts range is also available for the range-topping X5 M and X6 M models. They largely include the same parts but don’t touch on the M branded model’s engine. As a result, the X5 M and X6 M when equipped with the M Performance parts still utilise exactly the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine as the standard models.

However compared to the previous BMW X5 M and X6 M, the 2015 models deliver an extra 12 hp and 53 lb-ft of additional torque resulting in final figures of 567 hp and 553 lb-ft at a very low 2200 rpm. When it is all said and done, both the new BMW X5 M and X6 M sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a brisk 4.2 seconds when using the potent launch control system. That is entry-level supercar levels of acceleration.
