On the back of recently confirming that a successor to the potent Lotus 2-Eleven is on the cards, the British firm’s chief executive has revealed additional details about the car pinned to be dubbed the Lotus 3-Eleven.
On an engine front, Jean-Marc Gales confirmed to Auto Motor und Sport that the Lotus 3-Eleven will feature a V6 engine tuned to deliver about 420 hp. By comparison, the 2-Eleven delivered a relatively conservative 255 hp by comparison. As a result of this additional power, Gales estimates that the car’s top speed will hit around 290 km/h with a lap time of 7:09 around the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife also expected.
Elsewhere, Gales said that the 3-Eleven will be based around the Lotus Exige and consequently use the same chassis. Importantly however, the Exige’s chassis will be stiffened and when it is all said and done, the 3-Eleven should tip the scales at a mere 890 kg.
Finally, Gales confirmed that 311 examples of the Lotus 3-Eleven will be produced and that the car will celebrate its world debut at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 in September.
