Koenigsegg Regera

A plethora of new details about the upcoming Koenigsegg Regera megacar have emerged before the wraps are taken off the Geneva Motor Show 2015. The Swedish manufacturer claims that the Regera will be “the fastest accelerating, most powerful production car ever” eclipsing the firm’s current range-topping Koenigsegg One:1.

Regera translates into “to Reign” in Swedish and the Koenigsegg Regera will be the firm’s very first hybrid vehicle with it set to feature 700 hp from electric motors alone. That electric motor will feature a 9 kWh liquid cooled battery pack which is larger than the 6.8 kWh battery pack used by the Porsche 918 Spyder for example.

It remains to be seen what internal combustion those electric motors will be joined with there’s a chance it could use the same 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine as the One:1 which already produces 1341 hp. Either way, we know that the Regera will be more powerful than the One:1 but won’t be as track-oriented as the One:1.

Finally, the Swedish marque revealed that the Regera will be more luxurious than existing Agera models.

Expect more details to be revealed in the lead-up to the Geneva Motor Show 2015.

Also at Geneva, the Koenigsegg Agera RS will be introduced. It is likely to be an even more track-focused variant of firm’s staple model to sit between the 1200 hp Agera R and 1341 hp One:1. As a result, it is likely to adopt a number of the advanced aerodynamic technologies from the Koenigsegg One:1 alongside a lower kerb weight and revised suspension and braking components.
