The Ferrari 458 Speciale may well represent the end of an era for Ferrari. Sadly this may be the last ever Ferrari V8 Coupe to feature a naturally aspirated engine as the updated 458, reportedly dubbed the 458M, is thought to feature a forced induction engine.

The howling free-breathing V8 from Ferrari may well be consigned to the history books and at it may have done so at the pinnacle of Ferrari V8 coupes. The Speciale is a hardcore, stripped out version of the already brilliant 458 Italia.

As a reminder the Ferrari 458 Speciale features a modified variant of the regular 458 Italia’s 4.5-liter V8 engine. In Speciale guise, it delivers a total of 597 hp and 398 lb-ft of torque. What’s more, Ferrari claims that thanks to it delivering 133 hp per liter, it has the highest ever per litre output of a road-going naturally aspirated engine. Maximum power is achieved at 9000 rpm while max torque is reached at 6000 rpm.
