The Los Angeles Auto Show 2014 kicks off next week. It is a show that gets bigger and bigger every year. The year is no exception with a wealth of World Premieres expected and plenty of US debuts off the back of the Paris Motor Show 2014, earlier this year. We’ve gathered a preview of the hottest premieres we expect to see on Wednesday next week when the main event opens to the press!
Los Angeles Auto Show 2014 Preview
Audi have a big presence at the show this year. The headline model at their stand will be the yet-to-be-uneveiled Audi A9 Concept. This luxury concept is said to preview a range topping model. We expect to have details available soon, however, we have already seen a few teasers. The Audi Design Concept will be one of the first under new design boss Marc Lichte.
Elsewhere, Audi will have the debut of the US-only Audi R8 Competition which receives a slight boost in power, a few unique features and a limited production run. Los Angeles will also be the venue for the facelift Audi Q3 and RS Q3. The Q3 range gains new engine options while the RS Q3 gets a boost in power!
Mercedes-Benz will have the much-anticipated Mercedes-Maybach S 600 on display for the very first time. Full details are yet to be released, however, we have already heard select pieces of information.
Mercedes-Benz will also show the Mercedes-Benz G-Code Concept. The design study comes from China and was penned at a new Beijing design studio. US debuts will include the Mercedes-Benz S550 Plug-in Hybrid, the new Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, the Mercedes-AMG GT S and the Mercedes-AMG C 63 AMG.
BMW’s biggest highlights are the BMW X5M and X6M. It remains to be seen if they will bring something else to the show, however, the BMW 2-Series Convertible and the new BMW X6 will both get US unveilings.
The Los Angeles Auto Show 2014 has traditionally been a very strong Jaguar Land Rover show. This year will be no different. Jaguar claim to have eight new variants of the Jaguar F-Type to display. We suspect a majority of those are the F-Type AWD model which has already been announced. We are curious about the rest!
Ford will be taking the covers off of a brand new Ford Mustang GT350. The details haven’t officially been unveiled yet, although we expect to see them seep through over the next few days. Away from the performance market, the new Ford Explorer will likely be centre stage.
Lexus have a concept to unveil at Los Angeles, the Lexus LF-C2. Many expect this to preview an upcoming Lexus RC Convertible, hopefully sharing the same engine as the Lexus RC F. It would go head to head with the BMW M4 Convertible if it makes production.
Chevrolet will be resurrecting a famous name at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2014. The Chaparral name hasn’t been used for quite some time. Chevrolet’s Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo will no doubt feature looks as revolutionary as the race cars it shares its name with. For now though, little is known!
Cadillac have the Cadillac ATS-V to unveil. We expect both Coupe and Sedan versions packing twin-turbocharged V6 engines. Details of the Coupe leaked last week which confirmed an output of 450 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque. The Cadillac ATS-V.R will also go on display for the very first time. Created to meet international FIA GT3 specifications, it has the potential to run in more than 30 different GT series around the world.
More information will be revealed closer to the time!
Porsche have an interesting lineup of cars planned. The most important release is the Porsche 991 GTS models. The Porsche Cayenne GTS is also due to be unveiled. As is the Panamera Turbo S Executive Exclusive Series.
