For the past three years, the LUX Resorts & Hotels facility in Mauritius, dubbed Belle Mare, has been undergoing extensive modifications and upgrades. Now the revamped resort has officially opened and provides views and luxuries unlike any other resort in the small island nation.
The LUX Belle Mare now features private villas, rooms and suites designed by Kelly Hoppen. All rooms feature his and her minibars as well as professional coffee makers complete with locally roasted coffee beans. Elsewhere, an in-room entertainment system is provided with it showcasing 48 channels and video on demand and available in six different languages on the large 48-inch TV screens complete with Focal surround sound systems. Elsewhere, the rooms feature Bluetooth and high-speed internet.
Around the resort, there are a plethora of landscaped gardens courtesy of Stephen Woodhams as well as a large central swimming pool. The main restaurant is dubbed M.I.X.E and cooks the flavours and best meals from China, Japan and India complete with live cooking stations and a wood fired over. Another restaurant named Amari is also available. It is run by Michelin-starred celebrity chef Vineet Bhatia and focuses on Indian cuisine.
Discussing the revised resort, CEO of LUX Resorts & Hotels Paul Jones said, “I have personally opened and re-opened several luxury hotels in Mauritius and world-renowned resorts further afield. Nothing has excited me more than the creativity and passion with which we have prepared and finished LUX Belle Mare. She emerges as a true beauty and a credit to her island home.”
