Monterey 2014: Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance

Every year during Monterey Car Week, the Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance is held with it seeing some of the most expensive cars taking part in the festivities hitting the streets and displaying their individual beauty on the move.

For this year’s Pebble Beach Tour d’Elegance, the host of incredible cars drove on parts of the original 17-Mile Drive. They went up through local mountains and valleys with a brief stop at Carmel-by-the-sea. For the 2014 edition, the cars lapped Mazda Raceway Lagunda Seca just like they did last year and watching such rare and expensive cars on this famous racetrack is always a thrill.

The Tour d’Elegance is held exclusively for entrants into the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance held on Sunday every year during Monterey Car Week. While not all entrants in the Concours d’Elegance enter the tour, a breathtaking Ferrari 250 GTO stole the field this year and looked absolutely gorgeous doing so.

Interestingly, if two vehicles tie in class competition at the Concours, the vehicle which completed the Tour d’Elegance gets the nod. This underlines just how important the Tour can be for entrants.

Beyond the red 250 GTO which took part, there were also a selection of other classic Maseratis and Ferraris, a Ford GT40 prototype, Rolls-Royce, BMW and more.
