A prototype for the next-generation Audi TT RS is believed to have recently been filmed hitting the pavement at the Nurburgring.

It is hard to say 100 per cent that this is indeed a 2016 Audi TT RS prototype simply due to the fact that it is wearing the body of the outgoing model. However, there are a couple tell tail signs that it could be. First off, the IN in the license plate means it is a vehicle from within Audi itself. Secondly, the sports car spotted doesn’t feature production trim exhaust pipes and instead features simpler ones quite often used by prototypes from various brands.

Beneath the skin, the 2016 Audi TT RS will maintain the 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine as the current car. However, some small performance improvements will be present.
