Hackers Being Offered $10k to Hack Into Tesla Model S

Not only is the Tesla Model S notable for its stunning design and electric powertrain but for the fact that it features a truly monstrous 17-inch touchscreen display in the middle of the dashboard which replaces all traditional controls except the hazard light switch. Now at the annual SyScan Conference in Beijing, China from the 16th to the 17th of July, hackers are being offered $10,000 to successfully break into the display.

To be successful and considered for the prize, hackers will have to gain remote access to the display where pretty much every control of the Model S lies.

Some of the world’s largest companies have actually hired hackers in the past to test the security of their online systems, so if anyone at the SyScan Conference is successful, expect Tesla to immediately begin strengthening the defences of its systems.
