Official: MSO 650S Coupe Concept

McLaren’s bespoke engineering department MSO today released details of a McLaren 650S Coupe Concept scheduled to tour China. Aside from the updates applied by the 650S released at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 last month, the 650S Coupe Concept gets improved aerodynamic performance and a more dramatic appearance. The options previewed on this concept car will be made available for 650S, 650S Spider and 12C models.

Bespoke MSO features include a newly designed carbon fibre rear diffuser and MSO-branded carbon fibre side blades. The car features a unique ‘Agrigan Black’ colour scheme. It is a metallic black paint specially developed by MSO with a deep ruby red metallic flake. It is accented by satin-finished carbon fibre highlights.

Carbon fibre parts, include a prominent front splitter and air intakes, a unique set of MSO carbon fibre side blades and the MSO rear diffuser inspired by the McLaren P1.The rear bumper remains largely the same as the GT3 inspired 650S rear bumper. The car also gets a carbon fibre air brake, satin black engine bay covers and a set of special satin black finished lightweight ‘650S’ alloy wheels shod with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres.

Inside, the McLaren 650S Coupe Concept is fitted with fixed-back carbon fibre racing seats based on the lightweight design found in the McLaren P1. The trim is carbon black leather. Weight savings are 15kg, the seating position is lower with improved upper and lower body support. The rest of the interior features satin carbon fibre with gloss black switchgear and bezels.

The MSO side blades and rear diffuser are available to order now from McLaren retailers, priced at £5,114 and £7,245 respectively for a new 650S.
