Quanta Hybrid Performance Corvette Z06 QHP770

Now that cars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and the McLaren P1 have started to make hybrid drivetrains more acceptable to us average petrol heads, it seems they have started to appear everywhere. The uptake has been a little slower with American manufacturers. Quanta Hybrid Performance has seen an glaring omission in the Chevrolet lineup; the hybrid Corvette ZO6!

The brand new Quanta Hybrid Performance Corvette Z06 QHP770 package is an aftermarket kit to turn your Corvette Z06 fully hybrid. It was unveiled to the public at SEMA 2013 last week. The Corvette Z06 features a 7.0 litre LS7 V8 with a power rating of 505 hp. What Quanta Hybrid Performance offer is two supplemental electronic motors taking the power right up to a ZR1 beating 770 hp.

The electric motors are both 100 kilowatt YASA 750 axial flux electric motors. The battery pack is a 400 volt, 30 Ah, 11.3 kilowatt-hour unit coupled through two Sevcon controllers. Quanta reckons it adds an extra 282 pounds to the Corvette Z06 package.

Unfortunately, the car built as a show piece to generate attention. Quanta Hybrid Performance simply want to show what is possible and don’t intend to market the product. Still, it is a very nice idea!
