With more and more Tesla Model S’ hitting U.S. streets daily, it is inevitable that the instances of crashes and fires will increase. Well, recently the third reported Tesla Model S recently took place in the U.S. which saw the front end engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but Tesla has confirmed that they will investigate it when their team arrives to the cause of the devastation in Tennessee.
“We have been in contact with the driver, who was not injured and believes the car saved his life. Our team is on its way to Tennessee to learn more about what happened. We will provide more information when we’re able to do so,” Tesla said.
Fortunately, unlike this Tesla Model S which crashed and burst into flames in Mexico, the fire was contained to just the front of the car with fire fighters able to quickly extinguish the flames before they had any chance of spreading and intensifying.
The first reported Tesla Model S fire was caused by a sharp metal object puncturing the protective underside of the electric vehicle. It is unknown how this fire occurred but if it was caused the same way then Tesla could quite easily increase the thickness of that barrier. All told, there’s a great chance the results would have been a lot worth in a traditional internal combustion car.
