On top of BMW currently working on an all-new BMW M3 DTM race car, obviously based on the upcoming 2014 BMW M4 Coupe, reports have emerged suggesting that another racing variant is in the works.

Additionally, this BMW M4 race car could compete in selection European FIA events.

Under the hood, the M4 racer is slated to feature an uprated version of the standard 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six cylinder engine as the road-going BMW M4. This upgraded engine could feature a custom engine management system helping to lift torque to beyond 368lb-ft.

It’s speculated that the car will be targeted towards customer racing teams with the promise of a fairly low price of less than $90,000 in the U.S.
