First Sketches of 2014 Audi A8 Revealed

The first design sketches for the facelifted 2014 Audi A8 have just been released, and as expected they confirm our earlier suspicions that the visual changes for the 2014 model will only be minor.

With that being said, a few notable styling differences are noticeable. These include the revised front and rear bumpers and minor tweaks to the headlights and taillights. However, in fairness to Audi, most mid-life facelifts in the automotive world are equally minor from a styling standpoint.

Fortunately, the 2014 Audi A8 will receive a selection of technical updates with one of the most notable updates predicted to be the implementation of a new LED matrix lighting system. For those that didn’t know, the Matrix LED headlights feature 25 separate diodes each which generally operate in high-beam mode. When an approaching car is spotted by the camera, the Matrix LED headlights don’t just simply shut off the high-beams and instead keep them on with the light being cast away from the eyes of the opposing driver and instead focused on the road ahead!

Under the hood, the 2015 Audi A8 will be offered with a 3.0-liter and 4.0-liter TFSI engine as well as a 3.0-liter TDI diesel powerplant. The range-topping engine will come in the form of a 6.3-liter W12 unit.

The first official images of the 2014 Audi A8 and 2014 Audi S8 will be released on August 21st.
