Jeep is back again with the Cherokee name here to claim back the position it’s well known for, the king of the hill. The new 2014 Jeep Cherokee is showing at the New York Auto Show 2013 . To accomplish that they added the rear-axle disconnect making it the first mid-sized SUV to have this feature. It helps to reduce energy loss when 4×4 capability is not required hence improving fuel efficiency. This is possible through the capability of therear-axle disconnect to switch between two and four wheel drive automatically.
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee comes with loads of technology to help its drivability, they include the Jeep Active Drive I with a single power transfer unit (PTU) which is fully automatic, the Jeep Active Drive II with a two-speed PTU with torque management and low range and the Jeep Active Drive Lock Jeep that has all features of Jeep Active Drive II but adds a locking rear differential for superior low-speed power suitable on severe off-road conditions.
The powerhouse will feature come in two different sizes with the standard one being a 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 I-4 engine that produces 184hp and 171 lb.-ft. of torque. It will come with a MultiAir feature which reduces carbon-dioxide emissions and has a fuel-economy boost of up to 7.5 percent. The other engine will be the new 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine which is the first to be derived from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines three years running and it develops 271hp, 239 lb.-ft. of torque with a towing of 4,500 pounds. It will use a new 948TE nine-speed automatic transmission.
The exterior of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee is completely new but still retains the Jeep DNA with classic lines yet incorporating new technology such as the Advanced LED lighting technology that is used throughout the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee. As or the Trail Rated Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, its design was taken to a whole new level showing a rugged nature , exclusive exterior and interior colors, functional differences such as Jeep signature red front tow hooks, skid plates underneath and aggressive front and rear fascias.
Drivers will enjoy the new Command View panoramic sunroof or the Sky Slider full-length open canvas roof. The interior of the all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee is treayed to features such as hand-sculpted forms, signature Jeep design cues and numerous color options. The heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and wireless charging pad are also part of this delight.
The navigation panel will have delights such as the world-class thin-film transistor (TFT) LED 3.5-inch grayscale or 7-inch full-color reconfigurable instrument cluster. For entertainment, there is an award-winning 8.4-inch touchscreen multimedia command center or the standard 5-inch touchscreen multimedia command center giving you numerous options with your entertainment gadgets.
The Cherokee is built in the United States at Chrysler Group’s Toledo (Ohio) Assembly Plant.
