Video: Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda 50th Anniversary

Mercedes-Benz W113 SL

It is now clear that many cars are indeed celebrating their 50th anniversary as we have seen with the Lamborghini, Porsche 911 and now the Mercedes-Benz W113 SL, not to mention Aston Martin is celebrating 100 years. Introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, the Mercedes-Benz W113 SL came in 2-door coupe or roadster, a removable hardtop and powered by an in-line six engine. 48,912 of them were made before it was succeeded by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.

Mercedes-Benz USA revealed a video paying tribute to the W113 SL which also goes by the name Pagoda, name it acquired due to the shape of the roof, sunken in the middle and higher on the edges so as to accommodate larger windows. eGarage is now restoring these cars with original equipment offered by Mercedes-Benz, for those who wished of owning one, this could be the chance as they celebrate its 50th anniversary.
