As far as we’re concerned, Aston Martin has been going a little insane over the last few years in trying to create brand new supercars which maintain the GT pedigree of the DB9 while also being faster and more thrilling to drive.

By all reports, the original DBS ticked all these boxes, while the Virage was also said to be that little bit more extreme than the DB9. And Aston Martin’s refusal to completely kill off the DB9 resulted in the recent release of the new Aston Martin Vanquish, a supercar which CAR magazine’s Ben Barry was able test to in North Wales recently.

The Aston Martin Vanquish is in essence a refreshed and revised model of the DBS which has used extensive components of carbon fiber instead of the aluminium structure found in most Aston’s. Although we won’t go onto reveal just what Barry things of the car, one notable comment is the fact that he believes Aston Martin can take the Vanquish to an extra level.

Whether or not Aston Martin has been planning to release an ‘S’ of ‘R’ version of the Vanquish we’re not sure, but one thing is for sure, and that is the fact that the new Vanquish is a fitting replacement for the previous model wearing the same nameplate.
