Everything about the Salon Privé Supercar show exudes glamour and exclusivity; from the lavish surroundings of West London’s Syon Park, to the ‘garden party chic’ of the clientele milling around the place. Even the entrance fee of £234 (including champagne and lobster) and the fact that today is Ladies Day at the event scream decadent luxury.
As you can probably tell, this is no ordinary car show. With a set up more in keeping with Royal Ascot than anything involving an internal combustion engine, Salon Privé is very much an automotive event with one eye firmly on the chic-factor.
But there are cars here too, the event’s ace in the hole being the appearance of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed; a vehicle whose development was discussed in hushed tones and is reportedly the fastest Bentley ever produced.
Don’t let the typically subtle Bentley body and refined, genteel interior fool you; this beast boasts a staggering top speed of 205mph. The sleek and stylish vehicle is likely to be turning heads at Salon Privé this week, along with its partner, the Bentley Continental GT V8 Convertible; a drop top model of the Continental GT which will be also be making a splash at the event.
So grab a fetching hat, re-mortgage your house and get down to Salon Privé 2012.
