In just three weeks time the peace and tranquillity of Goodwood Park will be shattered by several American racers and Pikes Peak specials as the 2012 Festival of Speed (28 June – 1 July) gets underway.
A range of cars which went up the famous Pikes Peak hillclimb – based in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado – will descend on Goodwood in the UK. These will include previous Festival hillclimb fastest man Rod Millen in his 900bhp Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak special, as well as the Peugeot 405 T16 GR from 1988. Both cars will accompanied by a 1979 AMC Spirit Pikes Peak racer and Donner-Chevrolet DD3.
The multiple record-holding Kenworth T2000 truck will make its Festival of Speed debut, and being driven by Bruce Canepa. He will be driving this 5.2 Tonne, 16 liter, 1,500bhp monster up the hill pushing its 4000ft/lbs torque.
