Porsche is planning the release of a plug-in version of the Panamera S Hybrid with an electric range of 30 kilometers, or 19 miles. The model should be available by mid-2013.

The powertrain setup consists of a supercharged direct-injection gasoline V6 of the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid. A separating clutch allows the engine to stop while the car keeps moving. Between the gearbox and the engine an electric engine is fitted. The Germans added a charger and a lithium-ion unit replacing the smaller nickel-metal hydrid battery.
