Rumours of an upcoming successor to the Lamborghini LM002 have once again surfaced. This time the story is accompanied by a series of renderings made by Italian magazine Quattroruote indicating a crossover concept, which will show its face at the Beijing Motor Show on the press days between 23 and 24th of April, 2012. The Chinese event is held after the Geneva Motor Show, which will open its doors in March.

The information also suggests a release in 2015 in favor of the Estoque Concept, which was presented at the Paris Motor Show 2008. The Panamera competitor will not be produced any time soon. The third model in the lineup of the Italian supercar builder will be a SUV or crossover. The main reason is the following! The fast-growing Asian market demands a SUV, in order to compete with the upcoming Bentley SUV or the Maserati Kubang. Rumours even suggest the Italians are already taking orders.

As you can see in the images below, the Lamborghini SUV seems to be following the lines of the Aventador, but these photos are still renderings and it is unknown if these are in any way close the final product design.

Under the hood of the concept, we will find the Gallardo-based V10 with an output of 575 horses, according to the magazine. Other powertrains like a twin-turbo V8 or a hybrid drive train are also being considered for the Lambo SUV. However, Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann confirmed to Autocar today that the firm is unlikely to turn to turbocharging this decade – but has refused to rule out the switch in the longer term.
