We don’t usually follow full year motor racing events here at GTspirit, but we suspect that you’ll be interested to see these spyshots of the 2012 BMW M3 DTM car. The M3 DTM car will be unveiled on Friday next week. It’ll be the first factory backed DTM car for the German manufacturer in twenty years. It’s a historic moment for BMW as the original E30 M3 gained credibility in the racing series; in a sense, BMW are recapturing the M3’s roots.
With BMW no longer participating in Formula 1, the DTM is BMW Motorsport’s main focus at the moment. The DTM car will most likely get a 4.0 liter V8. As you can see from the photos, the car gains a widebody look with air vents, diffuser, spoiler and wheel arches all being added to the lowered racer.
