Goodwood 2011 BMW F10M M5

The 2012 BMW F10 M5 has made its official UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, following a release in Germany at the M-festival near the Nurburgring Nordschleife. The luxury saloon was displayed on a stand next to several other vehicles by the Munich-based manufacturer and we had a closer look.

Under the hood of the new Ring Taxi we found the high-revving 4.4 liter V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo package. The engine is combined with a race-bred chassis technology that includes, for the first time, an Active M differential and electronic damping control. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds, and 0-200km/h in only 13 seconds. The voluntarily limited top speed is 250km/h. The new M5 Saloon will be available in the UK in November 2011, priced at £ 73,040 on-the-road.

The exterior design includes a front apron with extremely large air intakes for the engine and brakes, an athletically flared wheel arches to emphasise the wide track, hallmark M “gills” with integrated indicator bars, an aerodynamically optimised rear apron with diffuser between the right and left-hand pair of twin exhaust tailpipes, a gurney-style rear spoiler on the boot lid and 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in exclusive double-spoke design.

On the steering wheel you will spot two M Drive buttons which call up two individually configured set-ups for the car. Furthermore, there are sports seats, a M leather steering wheel, and an M-specific instrument cluster and leather-covered center console.
