Michael Stoschek and Dieter Hawranke recently entered the new Lancia Stratos in the 2011 Sachsenrallye in Zwickau, Germany. The results of the Stratos in the rally haven’t made it to our inbox, but its great to see the revival of a true rally icon in the video below.
The new Stratos is built on a shortened Ferrari 430 Scuderia chassis. Also the Scuderia’s 4.3 liter V8 engine is used, which offers 540 horsepower and over 500Nm of torque. This results in a sprint to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds and 200km/h in an impressive 9.7 seconds.
As the article says, it’s fantastic to see the new Stratos prototype back in rallying, but I don’t know why the driver changes gears at 6,000RPM… Look closely at the tacho needle, it never goes past 6k.
