It’s being reported that the McLaren F1 that burned down at the side of the road is being sent back to the UK for repairs after the value of the car was deemed to be so much that repairs would be more economical. The owner, Irv Kessler of Minnessota, had the car shipped over to McLaren on Wednesday after a local company, Canepa Design, decided they couldn’t do anything with the damage.

According to our source (PressDemocrat), the owner uses the car for long distance journey’s, even taking it to the UK at one time for a road trip. Theres some discrepency about the chances of the car being fully restored, insurance companies in the US gave it a 90% chance whereas McLaren experts were more more conservative with their 50% or greater change.

The car was insured for $2 million when the accident happened. We hope to see the car on the road again soon, better than when it originally came out of the factory!
