First Porsche diesel produced

Porsche Cayenne Diesel

That Porsche going to produce a diesel engine for it’s Cayenne and maybe for the Panamera wasn’t a secret anymore for a while now. But finally producing one didn’t happen yet. That changed today, the first Cayenne Diesel rolled out of the factory in Leipzig. The number one Porsche diesel is a 3.0 liter V6 turbodiesel producing 240 bhp together with 550 Nm of torque. Most people buy a diesel powered car for it’s low fuel consumption, but the Cayenne is still running on 11 liter/100 km.

The Cayenne diesel can be ordered for some time now and is expected in the showrooms by februari 2009. You can drive it out of the showroom for 86,500 ( 84,650 – $ 123,500) but we silently hope that more petrol powered Cayenne’s will leave the dealers than self-burners do.
