The FIA WEC pre season test concluded today at the Monza circuit with Toyota setting the fastest time in the newly updated TS050 Hybrid. Their time was 1m30.547 in the #7 car driven by Nicolas Lapierre, who coincidentally was celebrating his 33rd birthday today. The Prologue took place throughout the weekend, the other Toyota driver Sebastian Buemi was present but had to fly to Mexico for the Formula E championship.

The new WEC rules will result to slower lap times in 2017, cars will have less downforce as well as fewer sets of tires per race. Most of these changes have been put in place in order to bring down development costs for all teams especially in LMP1.

TDS Racing posted the quickest time in LMP2 with the #28 Oreca 07 car of Matthieu Vaxiviere whose best time was a 1m36.078 lap. Porsche was quickest in LMGTE-Pro today with the #92 Porsche 911 RSR of Kevin Estre whose time of 1m47.507 beat Ford’s 1m47.530 set by Harry Tincknell. Michael Christensen had the fastest overall time in LMGTE with a 1m47.379 in yet another Porsche 911 RSR.

DTM driver Miguel Molina had the fastest time in the LMGTE-Am class driving the #54 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GTE. His time was 1m49.843. The 2017 FIA WEC season will kick off on April 16 with the 6 Hours of Silverstone.
