As the saying goes: ‘better late than never’, here are the highlights from this year’s Italian auto show Parco Valentino that took place in Turin last month. The previous edition of Parco Valentino was the first in decades and we were privileged to be there as part of our GTspirit tour last year. This year’s auto show, also held in the beautiful open-air Valentino park in Turin with the beautiful castle as a backdrop, had plenty of special cars on display.

Impressive last year were the many concept cars that rocked the sunny park stands. This year too was characterized by the many futuristic vehicles and several illustrations of Italian car design. Italian highlights such as the Ferrari F12 TDF, GTC4Lusso, 488 Spider and Lamborghini Huracan Spyder drew much public to the car-filled park. Apart from the Italian supercars, there were also many other brands that made it to Turin this year, with Porsche displaying its latest 911 Turbo and McLaren showing off their 570 GT.

Big reveals from this year’s Geneva Motor Show were also present, Aston Martin’s latest DB11 and Maserati’s Levante SUV made their respective Italian debuts. Arguably the most unique car on display was probably the Pagani Huayra Pearl, a view for many to cherish as this one-off hand built hypercar is soon to be shipped off to its respective owner.

One of the absolute highlights was of course the grande classic display on the front porch of the Valentino castle. We sure remember the one from last year, which brought together an absolutely breathtaking and unique display of Pininfarina’s masterpieces.

The last day of the Parco Valentino 2016 auto salon was traditionally ended with the ‘Gran Premio’, a tour for both classic and modern supercars through the heart of Italy’s automotive capital Torino. Last year we took part in this amazing tour with police escort and were blown away by the masses of Italian car fans that made it out there despite the heavy rainfall. The weather this year was much better and sure contributed to this year’s successful edition of the event. We sure hope to be there again next year and report live from Parco Valentino!
