Despite the U.S. car market not being a hot spot for station wagons, Porsche are going to try regardless and have confirmed that the 2018 Porsche Panamera Shooting Brake is set to make an introduction across the ocean from 2018.

Porsche U.S. boss confirmed in an interview that the second generation Panamera will be available in the U.S. although he couldn’t give any indication when the sports wagon would specifically arrive. He only said that it would be after 2017.

“We have to have some patience for the wagon to arrive in the U.S.,” said Zellmer, CEO of Porsche Cars North America. “But we are confident that this car will be well received here, despite the fact that this country doesn’t really like hatchbacks or wagons.”

The redesigned Porsche Panamera will make its debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show and should go on sale in Europe shortly afterwards. Zellmer concluded with that they’re looking into making the Panamera more U.S.-specific by possibly adding a fifth seat. A different seating configuration is supposedly sought after by U.S. dealers who say they lose potential Panamera clients to other brands because of the lack of a fifth seat.
