Mercedes is reportedly considering developing a F1 inspired supercar.

The model would sit alongside the current range-topping AMG GT coupe and would be branded as a Mercedes-AMG vehicle. According to a report by AutoCar, Mercedes AMG boss Tobias Moers was quoted as saying that the company could support another dedicated AMG model.

This statement has sparked rumors that this model could be an F1 inspired super coupe.

The move to develop this new F1 supercar will also help Mercedes fill the gap left by the SLS. The top of the range SLS model, when it was still available for sale, topped £230,000. That is double the price of the most expensive GT variant.

If the car is to be built, it will be entirely different to the GT according to Moers.

The new car will likely be a mid-engined hybrid supercar that will take many of its styling and technological cues from the Mercedes F1 program.
