With Mercedes-AMG increasing performance of their cars model after model, it probably comes as no surprise that the upcoming E 63 and E 63 S AMG models too are more capable than its predecessor. However, breaking through the 600 hp barrier is a whole different story. Yes, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S is to produce 604 hp, according to a leaked dealership brochure recently posted on GermanCarForum.com.

Similar to the C 63 and C 63 S models, the E 63 AMG will pack the 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo Mercedes-AMG M177 engine. This time, Mercedes-AMG have managed to squeeze out 563 hp and 750 Nm of torque (E 63) and at its max a whopping 604 hp and 850 Nm of torque in case of the E 63 S. In retrospect, the outgoing E 63 is good for 577 hp and 800 Nm of torque.

Additional information in the leaked brochure shows a 0-100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds for the E 63 and a mere 3.5 seconds for the E 63 S. A large chunk of this improved performance can also be accounted to the fact that the new generation E 63 will get the 9-Speed automatic transmission and standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive, while the outgoing model is still fitted with a 7-speed automatic transmission.

The E 63 S AMG is not the first in this segment to breach the 600 hp barrier, as Audi did so a while ago by introducing the RS7 Performance. It’s now time to wait for the new BMW M5, that is expected to go up from the current 560 hp M5 as well. There are rumors that the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E 63 will make its official debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show.
