More spy shots have been captured of the next gen Audi Q5 prototype as it undergoes testing.

The next gen Q5 will make its way onto the market sometime in the middle of this year and will include a new chassis, engine options and exterior/interior styling. The new Q5 will ride on a modified version of the MLB architecture, which is the same chassis design that underpins the new A4.

Thanks in part to the new chassis, the Q5’s curb weight will be reduced by at least 100 kg over the previous generation. Engine options are expected to consist of both four and six cylinder units. A plug-in hybrid version that features the “e-quattro” nomenclature will also be made available. No word on whether or not the e-quattro version will be available at launch or at a later date down the road.

After the launch of the next gen Q5 Audi is expected to expand their Q range with the release of an entirely new model, the Q6. The Q6 will sit in between the Q5 and Q7 in terms of price and performance.
