Shangri-La’s new Philippine flagship hotel is to open its doors in March 2016, the luxury hotel chain have recently announced. Housed in one of the tallest buildings of the Philippines, counting 61 floors and a height of 250 meters, the five star hotel includes a total of 576 rooms.

While not being the only occupant of the 250 meter tall skyscraper, the new Shangri-La at the Fort Manila is to share the luxury mixed-use property with Kerry Sports Manila, the city’s largest banqueting space and several extensive retail brands. The building is also to feature Shangri-La residences and premier Horizon homes on the top floors.

The hotel’s interior design finds its inspiration in Italian examples, making use of marble and silk accents with pale beige and ivory tones. Combined with light-Italian wood paneling, the rooms are categorized as minimalist and offer unparalleled views of the bay and city.

The hotel is to feature four suites, suitably named after the four largest islands the Philippines comprise of. Named Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the suits are described as being true sanctuaries offering guests the best views of Manila. The Deluxe rooms of the Shangri-La at the Fort Manila are among the most spacious in the city of Manila, enjoying 45 to 47 square meters in floorspace.

What’s more is a 8,000 square meters fitness center, Kerry Sports Manila, that takes up both the entire fifth and sixth floor. It includes a Spa with ten treatment rooms, tennis and squash courts, an entire arena with NBA-grade basketball ground and a children’s adventure zone.

The giant skyscraper has an endless list of further amenities, the most important being the 1,800 square meters grand ballroom, a total of 21 event spaces and 14 restaurants and bars of which seven are operated by the hotel.
