In December we saw spy shots of the standard 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet, which left us wondering when the AMG variant would come along. We didn’t have to wait long, it turns out, a 2017 C63 AMG Cabriolet prototype was out testing this week.

The prototype photographed was heavily camouflaged, however it was revealed as the high-performance AMG variant of the upcoming C-Class Cabriolet by the wide wheel arches, large front intakes, AMG-like exhaust tips, bigger wheels and high-performance brakes.

The C63 AMG Cabriolet is expected to feature similar if not identical specs to the C63 AMG Coupe. That means a 469 horsepower 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will be offered from launch. A high-performance C63 AMG ‘S’ Cabriolet may follow, offering up the same running gear but with 503 horsepower.

Keep an eye out for the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Cabriolet at the Paris Motor Show in September.
