The Russian Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) has announced that Porsche will recall 2,893 units of the Macan owing to possible leaks in the injection pipes that can lead to presence of a ‘foreign smell’ or ‘seepage of small amount of fuel’.

The cars that will be recalled are those that were sold in the period between 24 January 2014 and 26 October 2015 and Porsche will carry out the changes free of charge. Along with the Macan, 15 models of the 911 Carrera will also be recalled owing to possible inner short circuiting in ignition coils, which may result in misfiring in a relevant engine cylinder. Earlier this year, the German automaker also recalled some Cayennes and Panameras for faulty injection pumps in Russia.

The Macan was launched by Porsche Russia in April 2014 and its price ranges from 3.8 million rubles for the Macan S to 5.53 million rubles for the Macan Turbo. The vehicle competes with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 for market space.

Despite Russia’s economic problems, Macan and Porsche in general has been doing admirably well in terms of sales. In the wake of the falling ruble, exotic cars have become an investment for the rich. The Volkswagen Group-subsidiary reported a 20 percent growth till November of this year with 4,829 units sold.
