Revealed earlier in the year as McLaren‘s entry-level model, the 570S – joined with the 540C – directly rivals the likes of the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Audi R8 V10. Powered by the same 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 as the McLaren 650S albeit with 80 hp less, one may be curious just how it fares against its bigger brother. Well wonder no more.
Option Auto has kindly put together a clip showing both the 570S and 650S going head-to-head in a sprint from zero to 200 km/h. While we don’t know if the conditions in which the acceleration runs were conducted were identical for both cars, the clip does highlight just how closely matched the 650S and 570S are.
To make the fight fair, it seems as though the respective launch control systems of the two supercars weren’t enabled. We can see that the 650S reaches 100 km/h a fraction of a second faster than the 570S and is doing 103 km/h when its little brother 570S ticks over to 100 km/h. By the time 200 km/h comes around, the two are also essentially identical and separated by just 1-2 km/h!
