The Automobile Club of Palermo and Ferrari recently held their annual Targa Florio 2015 event to pay tribute to the original race of the same name.

This year, some of the very finest Ferrari models participated in the Targa Florio. They included the likes of the brand new Ferrari 488 GTB, 458 Speciale, F40, F430, 599 GTB, F12 Berlinetta and a number of 16M Scuderia Spiders and 458 Speciale As.

The original Targa Florio event was founded in 1906 and was held in Sicily. The original circuit for the event stretched over 148 km and consisted of 2000 corners. Ultimately, the event came to an end in 1973 for safety reasons because at the time, 600 hp+ cars were speeding through small towns and the narrow streets as part of the course.
