A number of 2006-2014 Chevrolet Corvette owners have filed a class-action lawsuit against General Motors. The lawsuit claims that the Corvette model years in question have excessive valve guide wear which can lead to engine failure.

There are a total of 19 owners involved in the lawsuit and altogether, more than 70 individual claims have been filed. They include ‘unjust enrichment’, negligence and fraud with suggestions that General Motors knew about the valve guide issue but did nothing to rectify it.

As a matter of fact, it is suggested that the American automaker stopped testing the engine through the ‘wiggle method’ as it knew that such a test could highlight the issue and “lead to more repair and investigations than it wished to perform”.

The cars in question are the 427 and Z06 models of the previous-generation C6 Corvette, rather than the newer model which has also experienced engine troubles.
