Ferrari has revealed its intention to lift annual production of its models by about 30 per cent to the 9000 unit mark.
The news comes as part of the company’s filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission as part of its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange. Ferrari’s chairman Sergio Marchionne, hopes to achieve the significant increase in production by 2019 with it meaning Ferraris will be more common than ever before.
When Marchionne initially took on the role on chairman from Luca di Montezemolo, he promised to maintain the company’s existing 7000 unit limit in place. At the time however, he did hint that production could eventually rise to the 10,000 mark.
As part of Marchionne’s plan for Ferrari, the Italian marque will debut a new model every year through to 2018. It is also said that Ferrari’s future models will each have eight year life cycles with an ‘M’ version (update, facelift etc) coming after the first four years.
