Video: World’s First McLaren P1 vs LaFerrari vs Porsche 918 Spyder Track Test

While Amazon Prime’s upcoming motoring show with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has filmed its hybrid hypercar track comparison as has Chris Harris, Supercar Driver has just released the world’s first video track comparison between the holy trinity.

Supercar Driver managed to pull off the feat thanks to British supercar collector and businessman Paul Bailey who owns all three of the cars as well as British Touring Car Championship driver Mat Jackson. The track test was held at the Silverstone circuit which is amongst the world’s most well-known race tracks.

For the test, Jackson had three familiarisation laps and three hot laps behind the wheel of each of the cars. At the end of it all, the McLaren P1 set the quickest time with a blistering 58.25 second lap time. It was followed closely by the Porsche 918 Spyder at 58.48 seconds and the Ferrari LaFerrari at 58.58 seconds.

Of course, this is far from the end of the story and many more track comparisons between the three will be held soon. We’d be particularly interested to see which of the three is the fastest when all have been fitted with the same tyres. After all, the P1 in this test was installed with Pirelli Trofeo R tyres, arguably the fastest street-legal tyres on the market.
