Video: Behind the Ford GT GTE’s Development

The brand new Ford GT GTE racing car is a pivotally important car for the American automaker. Not only is it based around the revolutionary new GT road car, but the new racer will see Ford return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In order to give us an idea of the new race car’s development program, Ford has released the following video.

It includes interviews from chief technical officer Raj Nair as well as Ford Performance director Dave Pericak. Both underline the importance of the car to the brand as well as just how focused Ford is to not only have it return to racing, but to be successful and ultimately win in its class at Le Mans.

Powering the Ford GT GTE is the same 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine currently used in the IMSA racing series and set to be used in the production car. However, it isn’t know just what differentiates the road-going and race car engines nor exactly how much power and torque either of them deliver.
